New Delhi: Logically, Virat Kohli should captain India if Mahendra Singh Dhoni can’t play in the third and final ODI, on Sunday.
The series has already been won by Pakistan.
However, the more senior Gautam Gambhir isn’t out of the frame. Virender Sehwag, though, is.
“It will either be Virat or Gautam... That’s the thinking,” a well-placed source told The Telegraph late on Saturday.
Virat, it may be recalled, was the vice-captain on the last two occasions that India played ODIs — in Sri Lanka (July-August last year) and in Bangladesh during the Asia Cup (last March).
In any case, Virat seems to be the one for the top job on a regular basis. It’s more a matter of when the selectors are going to put him at the helm.
