3 jumbos killed
Alipurduar, Jan. 5: Three elephants were run over by the Jhanjha-Guwahati Express in Jalpaiguri’s Buxa Tiger Reserve on Saturday evening.
Tiger reserve field director R.P. Saini said: “Unless the night trains are stopped in this section, this kind of accidents cannot be averted.”
Taxi arrest
Calcutta: A 30-year-old woman was arrested in south Calcutta on Saturday after she allegedly assaulted a policeman who stopped her taxi at a signal. Rose Basu had allegedly asked the driver to jump the signal. She was granted bail.
Harassment
Calcutta: A 23-year-old lady living in Harish Chatterjee Street lodged a complaint of harassment against a youth on Saturday. The lady alleged Niladri Banerjee had called her up several times and harassed her. No one was arrested till late in the evening.

Calcutta: A 40-year-old person was arrested for allegedly molesting a Class VII girl in Bhowanipore on Saturday
Ride fall
Tamluk: Two teenaged girls were injured after falling off a merry-go-round that broke at a fair on the Tamluk Raj Maidan in East Midnapore on Friday night.
