Woman’s torso found

Bhubaneswar: Charred remains of a woman were recovered near a canal at Nimapada in Puri. The torso was burnt beyond recognition. Prima facie evidence suggested the woman had been murdered and then burnt to conceal her identity, said police. Scientific teams reached the spot for investigation.

Arrest

Bhubaneswar: Kharavela Nagar police on Friday arrested a youth for allegedly trying to molest a minor girl at Leprosy Colony in Satya Nagar. The Class IX girl alleged that the youth, Prasanna Nayak, 24, had molested her in her house.

Explosives

Berhampur: Police on Friday seized explosives, including 10,000 detonators, 75 electric detonators and 2,952ft electric wire, concealed in a bag from the house of one Kora Sethi at Ankuli.

New judge

Cuttack: Justice Raghubir Dash was sworn in as new judge of Orissa High Court on Friday. With this, the number of judges in the high court rose to 12, though there are 10 vacancies to be filled up. Acting Chief Justice Pradip Mohanty administered the oath of office and secrecy to Justice Dash.
