A ‘different’ New Year gift

Jan. 4: Fans of Dipali Borthakur and Neel Pawan Baruah wished the couple a happy New Year this morning by presenting them a calendar containing photographs of some of their happy moments.

While film critic Utpal Datta had shot the photographs, folklorist Biren Dutta wrote the captions and Dhanjit Das, owner of a design studio here, published the calendar. Malayali poet K. Sachidanandan gave the title: Let Your Smile Never Vanish.

All India Radio (Guwahati) deputy director general Dinesh Das released the calendar this morning at the couple’s residence at Beltola here.

The calendar was the fans’ sign of affection for the couple and their respect for their happy married life. “The kind of love shown by Neel Pawan da to Dipali baideu always inspires me. Today, I am very happy to offer this small gift to them,” Dhanjit Das said.

The artist couple passed some time with their fans under the warm morning sun, chatting and smiling and Baruah, moved by the love shown by their fans, said it was a happy day for them. “I am very happy to see our faces on a calendar. I am delighted that people have come to wish me this way in the beginning of the New Year,” he said.

Around 750 copies have been published and will be distributed free of cost.

Datta said they had been publishing calendars on prominent persons from the field of arts and culture for the last four years.
