ODI squad on Sunday

Calcutta: The Indian squad for the ODI series against England, starting in Rajkot on January 11, will be picked in New Delhi on Sunday, a BCCI release said on Thursday. The Sandeep Patil-headed selection committee will meet after the conclusion of the third ODI between India and Pakistan.

Postponed

Calcutta: CSA and Castle Lager’s farewell day for Mark Boucher, scheduled to take place on Day Three of the first Test between Proteas and New Zealand at Newlands has been postponed at the request of the former Proteas wicketkeeper. It will now take place during the Test series between the Proteas and Pakistan next month.

Lone Indian

Calcutta: C. Shamsuddin was the only Indian to feature in the list of five new third umpires, who were appointed to the ICC’s international panel on Thursday, media release said. The four other umpires appointed to the panel are Anisur Rahman (Bangladesh), Michael Gough and Tim Robinson (both England) and Derek Walker (New Zealand).

New coach

Panaji: Subrata Bhattacharya, who was replaced by Santosh Kashyap at ONGC, has now joined Vasco, who are looking to improve their performance in the second division I-League.

Railways win

Calcutta: Railways won their maiden National men’s handball title edging past Services 35-34 in the final at the St Thomas’ School ground Thursday. Delhi defeated Chhattisgarh 28-26 to finish 3rd.
