River Rine prevail

Guwahati, Jan. 3: River Rine Club today inflicted a 28-run defeat on Ankurjyoti Club in a match of the Ramesh Barooah Trophy invitation cricket tournament, organised by Gauhati Town Club, at Judges Field here.

Put in to bat, River Rine were restricted to 230 for seven in the stipulated 40 overs. Ankurjyoti were bundled out for 202 in 37 overs.

Kaustab K. Gogoi topscored for River Rine with 73 runs and Amit Boro remained not out on 48.

Bikash Singh also contributed a useful 33.

Asif Washimul Haque of Ankurjyoti notched up three wickets for 61 runs.

Rohit Sharma and Rio Pramanik took two each for 29 and 43 respectively.

Later on, Ambar Bhattacharjee topscored for Ankurjyoti with a run-a-ball 50 and Raju Kalita scored 43. Akshay Naraine chipped in with 18.

Amit Boro of River Rine scalped four wickets for 46 runs and teammates Joydeep Baruah and Raj Thapa picked up one each.

Bud Cricket Club will meet City Cricket Club tomorrow.
