A dazzling experience would be in store for visitors at Golghar, the historical granary in the heart of the capital, every evening from January 14.
Tourism minister Sunil Kumar on Thursday announced that the much-awaited water fountain-cum- laser show would open for the public.
“The facility, under construction for some time, is ready. Chief minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate it on January 14. Once inaugurated, regular shows would be held there every evening. It would certainly be a big hit among the people,” the minister said.
Sources said the shows would start at 6pm everyday.
“It will be a colourful fountain-cum-laser show. Though more details cannot be divulged at present, it would surely be a treat for the people. The laser show will show a lot of things related to Bihar, the history of the place and that of Golghar,” he said.
“Each show would be of 30 minutes’ duration. The music and colour of the water fountain would add to the magic of the laser show. Both the fountain as well as the laser show will run together with perfect synchronisation,” a department official added.
Bihar State Tourism Department Corporation recently introduced an entry fee of Rs 2 at Golghar.
“The entry fee was started in December last year. Rs 2 is a nominal amount. Entry fee collections can be used for development of the entire area,” said the official.
He added: “The new show would definitely entice more visitors to the monument daily. It is often said that Patnaites, especially families, don’t have much to do in the evenings. They will now have a choice of coming here and enjoying the show”
Earlier, the department said the Pandu Pokhar area of Rajgir would also have a similar light, sound and laser show.
“Work is about to start in the project, which would also have a market on the lines of Dilli Haat. The department is working on the same,” the official said.
The minister added that the state capital would hold the Kite Festival from January 14 at Sabbalpur Diara.
“The Kite Festival would be held like last year. We expect a lot of crowd and excitement on that day,” the minister said.
