Street kid tuition
Santiniketan, Jan. 3: Visva-Bharati has taken up a programme to give free tuitions to street children living outside its campus.
The varsity has identified 30 street children, aged between 5 and 15 years, who will be taught by students of Patha Bhavan, the Visva-Bharati-run school. Most of the 30 children live in the Bolpur-Santiniketan railway station.
Bhangar plan
Calcutta: The Trinamul leadership has hinted it will go all out to “contain the damage” from Tuesday’s Bhangar drink-and-dance episode, keeping in mind the rural polls. Sources said the party’s disciplinary committee had started a probe.
Rape arrest
Calcutta: A 28-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for being allegedly involved in the rape and murder of a girl in Diamond Harbour on Sunday. The arrested person has been identified as Palash Kapat. Another person, Poltu Kanji, had been arrested on Tuesday. Five persons were named in the FIR.
