Kolhan University is all serious about improving its academic standards.
The university has tasked its syndicate with the responsibility to analyse the functioning of all affiliated colleges and submit a report on improving the quality of education. The syndicate, at its last meeting, decided to keep an eye on all 14 colleges.
Each college has been put under a syndicate member, who will review all details, starting from infrastructure to quality of teaching, and will send a report to the university within this month. Kolhan University has a total of 28 colleges, of which 14 are affiliated and are located in three districts East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan.
New institutes are coming up everyday and therefore, it becomes necessary to keep a check on the same so that students are not duped as such cases are being frequently reported. It is like prevention is better than cure. Through this monitoring system, we will be able to keep a tab on the existing colleges and see whether they are fulfilling all norms or not, said an official.
The syndicate members will need to check whether the colleges are following all rules and guidelines laid down by the state government or University Grants Commission. The main idea is that students should not suffer, principal of Jamshedpur Co-operative College R.K. Das, a member of the syndicate, said.
