Youth tag to R-Day tableaux

Ranchi, Jan. 2: The state government will showcase its achievements and future goals this Republic Day by rolling out tableaux — in Ranchi and Dumka — focused on “youth and skill development”.

Chief secretary S.K. Choudhary today chaired a meeting with secretaries of various government departments and asked them to shortlist ongoing schemes and future projects aimed for youths.

Governor Syed Ahmed will unfurl the Tricolour in Ranchi on January 26 while the chief minister will do the honours in Dumka, the sub-capital of the state.

“All the departments have been told to showcase what they are doing in terms of youth and skill development initiatives. Tableaux based on a youth-centric theme will regale the audiences on Republic Day,” a top government official, who did not want to be named, told The Telegraph.

Sources said the focus of the tableaux was likely to pick up from chief minister Arjun Munda’s recent announcements for the youths.

State planning department officials said they were in the process of giving a final shape to the tablet PC scheme announced by Munda on the Foundation Day of Jharkhand on November 15, 2012, at Morabadi grounds in Ranchi.

“We are making a formal proposal for the cabinet’s approval. It will take some time, but the government is determined to distribute tablet PCs to youths within this fiscal,” said a official in the planning and development department.

The science and technology department has also been instructed to prepare a blueprint for skill development of youths. New polytechnics, engineering colleges and industrial training institutes will also feature on the state’s list of achievements.
