Martinians go back 2 school, in association with the Telegraph

What: ALMA presents Back 2 School, the Annual Reunion Bonfire in association with The Telegraph.

When: December 29

Where: La Martiniere for Girls grounds

The nip in the air was just perfect for the bonfires lit on the La Martiniere for Girls ground with the school building as the backdrop.

The ALMA executive committee members are all smiles after a successful evening

Keeping to the theme, there were faux pencil shavings strewn on the bonfire platforms, there was a science lab and “butt seats” made popular by 3 Idiots on which everyone wanted a picture. Exclamations of “Oh my God, is that really you” and “Do you remember” could be heard as friends caught up after years. DJ Akash added to the mood of nostalgia spinning out tracks like Dancing Queen, Brown Girl in The Ring and Stayin’ Alive.

“The most wonderful thing about La Martiniere is the Martinian spirit. We take every opportunity to reunite and re-establish the bonds of love and commitment,” said Lorraine Mirza, principal, La Martiniere for Girls.

All the shouts and hoots came to a stop the moment the first bars of the school song Hail! Hail! The Name We Own started and every Martinian joined in

“The annual bonfire reunion brings together a multitude of Martinians from across the globe who come home at this time. It is a great platform to connect and reconnect with fellow Martinians, renewing old ties and forging new ones,” said Jayjit Biswas, vice president, Association of La Martiniere Alumni (ALMA).
