Calcutta: After being slapped with a suspension from the I-League till the 2014-15 season, Mohun Bagan have been dealt with another blow.
The All India Football Federation, on Monday, showcaused Okolie Odafe for his red card offence during the December 9 I-League Derby at the Salt Lake Stadium.
According to AIFF, it’s Odafe’s dissent and misbehaviour with referee Vishnu Chauhan that asked for such an action. Besides, the AIFF is also of the view that Odafe’s antics were responsible for inciting the crowd in the violence-marred game, which couldn’t proceed beyond the first half.
“The AIFF felt that Odafe’s misbehaviour with the referee required strict action. Also, it acted as a kind of provocation for the crowd in a high-intensity clash. He has been given seven days to reply,” I-League chief executive officer Sunando Dhar said.
The show-cause notice is more a precautionary measure from the AIFF as they want to be well prepared and ready, in case Bagan move court to challenge the ban.
Meanwhile, Bagan, who have submitted a letter to the AIFF, requesting for a review of the suspension, claim they are not aware of the action against Odafe.
