Calcutta: There are one too many ‘good things’ in the New Year’s Day card, to cater the demands of regulars, veteran and the newcomers who, normally, pack the RCTC’s stands to capacity. As usual, the trainer-jockey combination of Vijay Singh and Christopher Alford are expected to dominate the nine-event card. Adelino, Abriella and Snowscape, the three hot-favourites, could be expected to score in their respective events — the 1,100m Religare Macquarie Cup, the 2,200m RCTC Gold Vase and the 1,600m Pailan Poto Cup. The Kunigal Stud Indian Produce Stakes is likely to be a close contest between Captain Courageous, Gentle Knowledge and Adiella. However, those looking for better priced winners may target Rembrandt, Ximena, Sreedhan and Royal Honour in the lesser events.
