Guwahati, Dec. 31: UEFA A Licence English coach John Godbold was all praise for Meghalaya’s enthusiasm and attitude towards football after conducting a series of coaching camps in the state.
The Aircel Lajong football coaching camp concluded at Polo ground in Shillong today with a turnout of over 280 footballers below the age of 13. Over 2,000 youngsters participated in the camp.
The programme, conducted by Godbold in association with Shillong Lajong FC’s coaching staff, was held at Mawlai, Bhoirymbong, Mairang, Mylliem, Sohra, Jowai and Shillong, as part of the team’s youth development initiative.
“The attitude of the boys was excellent. I am impressed by the young people here who showed great agility, balance and co-ordination,” Goldbold said. He also complimented the local people for helping to organise the camps.
A daylong coaching clinic was conducted by Godbold.
Gymnastics: Guwahati emerged champions in the All-Assam inter-district Gymnastics championship at Nurul Amin Sports Complex in Nagaon from Friday to Sunday.
Sivasagar and Nagaon gymnasts came second and third respectively.
