10 killed in Iraq
Baghdad, Dec. 31 (AP): Two separate bombings south of Baghdad killed 10 people and wounded another 24 today, Iraqi officials said.
The deadliest attack was in the town of Musayyib some 60km south of the capital, where militants planted bombs around two houses. Two women and two children were killed.

Cairo (Reuters): Egypt’s pound fell to a record low on Monday as the President signalled his government would allow it to depreciate slowly for several more days to stop a drain on foreign reserves.

Sanaa (AP): Al Qaida’s branch in Yemen has offered bounties worth thousands of dollars to anyone who kills the US ambassador or an American soldier in the country.
Chavez health
Caracas (Reuters) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has suffered more complications following cancer surgery in Cuba and remains in a “delicate” condition.
