Dhoni is special, says Bari

Dhoni

Ahmedabad: Wasim Bari, a former Pakistan captain and chief selector, has given his thumbs up to Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

“Sportsmen must not only be judged on their current performances, but accomplishments in the past too... I never quite enjoyed captaining and ’keeping at the same time, but Dhoni is obviously special,” Bari told The Telegraph on Friday.

Speaking before the final T20 International, Bari added: “The Indian team hasn’t done well in recent times, but can you blame the captain only? Somebody who has won you the World T20 and the World Cup can’t become a bad captain...

“But if a change has to be made, start by replacing Dhoni in the ODIs and in the T20 Internationals, not by effecting a change in the Test captaincy.”
