Half ton for hostel in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar, Dec. 28: The two-day golden jubilee celebrations of the Kokrajhar Government College boys’ hostel concluded here today, with students holding colourful programmes on the premises.

The day began with a flag-hoisting ceremony, This was followed by the inauguration of golden jubilee memorial tomb by Birfung Narzary, administrative officer of Bineswar Brahma Engineering College, Kokrajhar. A seminar on the topic, Role of Bodo Youths in Development of Bodo Society, and an open meeting was held in the evening. Students and ex-boarders of the hostel also took out a colourful cultural rally, which was flagged off by Bilifang Brahma, food and supply inspector of the district and an ex-boarder of the hostel. A tree plantation drive was also carried out during the day. It was inaugurated by M.C. Brahma, divisional forest officer (wildlife). Yesterday, present and former boarders had held a football exhibition match and a get-together.

The hostel can boast of contributions during the Bodoland movement and many of its former boarders have contributed towards the growth of society.
