AASU protest
Dibrugarh, Dec. 27: The AASU activists today burnt the effigy of divisional railway manager Harsh Kumar and demanded his suspenion for giving Rs 5,000 and Rs 500 to the seriously injured and those who had received minor injuries respectively in yesterday’s train accident at Chabua.
Complaint
Jorhat: The Dhansiri Valley Project Transport Contractors’ Association filed a complaint at Jorhat police station and staged a protest on Thursday against the officer in-charge of Cinnamara police outpost for submitting a tender in the name of his son at ONGC Assam Assets office here.
Arrested
Dibrugarh: Anu Ali alias Sajid Ali was arrested by police at Naya Bazar here on Thursday and a .22mm pistol and two rounds of ammunition were seized from him.
Jumbo dies
Jorhat: A two-year-old elephant calf was found dead by Kaziranga National Park guards at Kanchenjuri in the Bagori range of the park on Thursday. The calf had got bogged down in a swamp.
