Guwahati, Dec. 24: The second day of the Royal Global School 15th India Club Open Tennis Championship today witnessed smooth sail for all the seeded players in the boys’ under-14 and under-18 singles events at India Club courts here today.
Ankit Kashyap, Ayush Singh, Vivan V. Das, Sh. Md Iftikhar, Satyam Bora and Rishi Raj Kalita made it to the under-14 boys’ singles third round.
In the single setter second round matches, Kashyap beat Deep J. Swargiari 5-2, Singh defeated Apratim Singh 5-3, Das overcame Karan B. Das 5-4 (7-5), Iftikhar overpowered Anurag Buragohain 5-4 (7-3), Satyam Bora got the better of Anurag Borah 5-3 and Kalita grounded Mriganka Mandal 5-3. In under-18 boys’ singles, Vishal V. Saikia, Sahidul Islam, Anchit Talukdar, Aman Deo, Krishanu Baruah and Ankit Kashyap entered the third round.
Saikia blanked out Yuvraj Choudhury 6-0, Islam defeated Anish Sonowal 6-3, Talukdar beat Abhilash Chaliha 6-2, Deo overcame Shakib Ahmed 6-5 (7-2), Baruah got the better of Satyam Goswami 6-3 and Kashyap tamed Yamnik Talukdar 6-0.
