Attack on SP

Patna: Sheikhpura superintendent of police Baburam had a miraculous escape on Saturday night when a stone chips-laden truck rammed into his official vehicle on the Sheikhpura-Barbigha road under Barbigha police station, about 115km southeast of Patna. he truck, after hitting Baburam’s SUV, tried to escape. However, it was seized later with its driver and owner being arrested. “It was an attempt on my life by stone-crushing mafia,” said Baburam, who faced a similar attack recently.

Officer dead

Patna: Bihar-Jharkhand defence estate officer S.K. Sharma died on Saturday night. Police suspect he committed suicide by consuming poison. No suicide note has been found.

Patna: Four persons identified as Vijay Choudhary, Alok Kumar, Kamal and Vijay Krishna were arrested from the Gandhi Maidan police station area on Sunday. Police said the arrested persons used to extort money in the name of senior administrative and police officials.

Maoist held

Sasaram (PTI): A Maoist zonal commander, wanted in the murder of two police officers, was arrested on Sunday with arms and ammunition from Rohtas district. Superintendent of police Manu Maharaj said the police raided a brick kiln at Godaila village and zeroed in on the zonal commander, JP alias Bajrangi Thakur.

Couple stabbed

Banka (PTI): A senior citizen and his wife were stabbed to death on Saturday late night at Koldhiya Rahamganj village in Banka. The assailants barged into the house of Nimani Singh (70) and Chameli Devi (61).
