‘Angel’ has the edge

Calcutta: Three of the four fillies — Angel Child, Chase The Sun and Silverina — in the line-up for the Ladies Derby, the 2,400m Calcutta Oaks, have credentials to land the Classic, on Saturday. However, considering their bloodlines, staying power and recent form, the Pesi Shroff-trained Angel Child is expected to have the measure of Silverina. Trevor Patel partners the filly by Razeen out of Veena’s Pet. Silverina did beat Angel Child at level terms in the 2,000m Monsoon Derby but the China Visit-Silver Print daughter does not appear to be anywhere near that form.
