Calcutta: It’s not very often when Dempo SC go into a contest having been subjected to a five-goal hammering in their previous encounter. That too, at home.
On Saturday, though, an under-pressure Dempo will look to right the wrongs when they take on the challenge from Pailan Arrows in the I-League Round XII tie, at the Salt Lake Stadium.
The 1-5 loss to Pune FC has also uprooted Dempo from the top spot, which has been taken over now by Churchill Brothers by virtue of superior goal average. However, securing full points against the Arrows will again help them move atop the league table. Dempo have notched up 25 points so far, while Arrows are on 14 points from 10 matches.
For the visitors, it’s the indomitable spirit of the Arrows that they need to keep in mind. Besides, the Arrows are a refreshed lot, taking the field after a 11-day break.
“They are a youthful side with abundant energy, which is a major aspect about the team. They will certainly look to make the most of the home advantage.
“It is right that Arrows are the only side without a foreigner. But they are a good side, as they are grooming the future India players,” said Dempo goalkeeper Subhasish Roy Chowdhury.
The Goans also are ready to start afresh without pondering too much over the reversal against Pune FC.
