Combination is the best

Calcutta: The Combination, comprising Prakash Bhandari, Girish Kumar, Kailash Newatia, A.K. Gupta, S.M. Moin and Sunil) lifted the coveted Ruia Silver Cup for team of four events in the 54th Winter National Bridge Championship, here on Wednesday. Dr Subrata Sengupta’s IV are the runners up.

Sabyasachi Sadhukhan & Ayan Chatterjee are the expected winners of IMP Pairs followed by A Raj & NK Gupta. Souren Coomer Dutt and Asim Mukherjee finished third.

In Ruia Gold quarter finals results have been on the predicted lines. Indian Railways, comprising Manas Mukherjee, Rana Ray, Subir Majumdar, D Majumdar, Sandip Dutta and Sumit Mukherjee defeated Ajay Bagaria’s IV by 97 IMPs.

Indian Blues defeated Hemant Jalan. In fact after the third round Indian Blues comprising Subhas Gupta, JM Shah,VM Lal, Swarnendu Banerjee, Rajiv Khandelwal and Himani Khandelwal were 46 IMPs ahead and the Hemant Jalan’s team threw in the towel.

Poddar Developers defeated Mohota by a slender margin of 8 IMPs. Formidables led by Ms Kiran Nadar and champion of 52nd Edition of the tournament defeated Maya Meera Sneha by 25 IMPs.

The Holkar Trophy Pairs tournament will start on Thursday.
