Plan to refurbish bus depots

Patna: The government is planning to refurbish all bus depots in the state that are in a dilapidated state, said transport minister Brishin Patel on Wednesday.

Elaborating on the plan, the principal secretary of the department, R.K. Mahajan, said: “The upgrade of the bus depots would be carried out in a public-private mode. The bids have been invited and a few companies selected for the work. The financial bidding would take place soon.”

Patel said the computerised test for getting driving licences would start in January 2013. Students of classes VI to VIII would also be taught about traffic rules. “The department would also fix the fares of autos, taxis and buses,” he added.

Sushil to visit expo

Patna: Wrestler Sushil Kumar, who won a silver medal at London Olympics, would visit Patna to take part in a property expo on January 26 and January 27. The chairman of the organising committee, Himanshu B. Narayan, said a formal request had been sent to the state government to declare Sushil a state guest during the visit.

"The expo would give builders and developers a chance to showcase their projects,” he added.
