Go-go-go-Goa! For schoolchildren, the sun-kissed beaches off the Arabian Sea seem to be the dream destination this winter vacation.
With most of the Patna schools closing for around 10 days starting this weekend, students have planned to spend the better part of the holidays in amusement parks, clubs and even malls.
Ayushi Gupta, a Class XI student of DPS Patna, is planning to go to Goa to welcome the New Year. Ayushi said: “I am going to Goa with my parents and younger sister Amisha. New Year celebrations are simply superb there. I’ll make sure that I visit EsselWorld, Inorbit Mall among other places in Mumbai also.”
Akriti Singh of the same class and school is also planning to go to her maternal uncle’s place in Mumbai with her parents and younger brother Hrishavh. Akriti said: “We are just going to meet him and his family. It’s nothing like that we have to celebrate Christmas or New Year, instead we want to utilise this break.”
Akriti added that if they are not going to Mumbai, they would have a family outing with dinner and party at New Patna Club.
For a few students, studies would be the first priority during the vacation also.
Nidhi Jha, a Class XII student of St Joseph’s Convent High School, said: “Unlike previous years, this vacation would not be fun because the board exams are starting in the second week of February. I am concentrating on studies these days but at the same time, also excited about the farewell. The farewell will be organised next month.”
Amara Subul, a Class IX student of St Joseph’s Convent High School, adds: “I will spend the holidays practising maths.”
While the schools have set different dates for Christmas celebrations and winter vacation, a few are closing just for three to four days. Radiant International School will be closed on December 24, 25, 31 and January 1.
While St Joseph’s Convent High School would be closed from December 22 to January 2, St Michael’s High School would close on December 22 and re-open on January 3. Students of Litera Valley School will enjoy holidays between December 29 and January 7 besides a day-off on Christmas.
