Railways enter quarter finals

Calcutta: In the 54th Winter National Bridge Championship , qualifiers for the knock out stage have been on the expected lines except for Dhampur Sugar Mills and Shree Cements. While Dhampur Sugar Mills were never in serious contention , Shree Cement missed out by a whisker with 190 VPs, the last qualifier being slightly ahead with 193VPs.

The eight teams who qualified for the quarters berth are Formidables, Ajay Bagaria, Poddar Developers, defending champions Indian Railways, Mohta’s IV, Maya Meera Sneha, Hemant Jalan’s IV and India Blues Bombay.

Railways defeated C V Rao’s IV in the pre-quarter finals in tiebreak.

In Ruia Silver, 12 teams qualified for Super Swiss league. Odisha Secretariat maintained their consistency by topping the field with 230 VPs after 12 rounds. However Odisha Secretariat performance have been below par after 4 rounds of super swiss league as they are trailing at 9th position with 53 VPs. Combination is way ahead of other contestants with 90 VPs after 4 rounds.

They are followed by huge margin by RKD Infrastructure with 70 VPs. Final ranking of top 5 teams are Combination (90 VPs), RKD Infrastructure (70 VPs), Konnagar Bridge Club (69 VPs), Chandannagar Bridge Club (64 VPs) and BDBA Durgapur (62 VPs).
