Gwalior: Captain Devendra Bundela scored an unbeaten century and shared a match-winning 185-run stand with Jalaj Saxena (72 not out) as Madhya Pradesh thrashed Punjab by eight wickets in their Ranji Trophy Group A match, here on Tuesday.
Chasing a 190-run target, Madhya Pradesh overcame two early jolts to chase down the required runs in 45.3 overs. The hosts earlier shot out Punjab for 364.
Bundela’s 100 came off 132 balls with the help of 11 fours and five sixes.
Saxena faced 120 balls in his unbeaten knock and helped himself with 10 boundaries including two sixes.
In a Group B match, Shikhar Dhawan led from the front as he smashed an unbeaten 116 to help Delhi thrash Maharashtra by seven wickets.
Dhawan got fantastic support from Mohit Sharma (51) and Mithun Manhas (51, 40b, 5x4, 3x6) as the hosts overcame a challenging target of 270.
En route to his 16th first-class century, Dhawan faced 194 balls hitting 12 boundaries and a six.
In another match, Tamil Nadu eked out three points against Baroda. Tamil Nadu were 108 for two when stumps were drawn.
Resuming on their overnight score of 116 for four, Baroda were bowled out for 260 in their second innings, with skipper Ambati Rayudu being the top-scorer with a knock of 66 off 146 balls.
