4 die in mishap

Jorhat, Dec. 17: Four persons were killed and two injured when a Guwahati-bound bus collided with a truck at Panichokuwa on Monday. Three of the victims have been identified as Mrikango Chakravarty of Doomdooma and Somnath Saikia and Probin Bora of Lakhimpur district. One is yet to be identified.

Dibrugarh: Amiya Gogoi, MLA, along with K.K. Nath, resident chief executive, OIL, laid the foundation stone of a 4.60km double-lane road in Duliajan town on Monday.

Jorhat: A forest guard fired four shots in the air to scare away a rhino which attacked a tourist vehicle at Kaziranga National Park on Monday morning.

Golaghat: Police on Monday sealed the office of the Phoenix Properties Limited, a financial organisation.

Suicide

Jorhat: Miki Chetia, a student, committed suicide by consuming poison and later hanging herself on Monday afternoon at her residence in Garmur.

 

Kokrajhar: A preparatory meeting on offsite chemical disaster mock drill was held today at DC conference hall, Kajalgaon in Chirang district under the aegis of Chirang district administration. in presence of heads of department concerned and top officials of the Bongaigaon Refinery, Dhaligaon. In the meeting preparedness of plan to respond to disaster treat was discussed.
