Indian suicide

London, Dec. 17 (PTI): An India-born doctor in the UK has reportedly committed suicide after his parents disapproved his plan to marry his British fiancée and fellow physician citing cultural differences.

Bangalore-born anaesthetist Madhu Honnaiah, 33, swallowed drugs from Singleton Hospital in Swansea where he worked after splitting with Emma Wrighton, 32, in September 2010.

An inquest heard his parents had objected to his engagement to Wrighton who had refused to have a Hindu wedding, the Daily Mail reported.

Honnaiah was alone when he took two drugs used in surgery. A handwritten letter made it clear he wanted to take his life.
