Md. Sp. held by Samity

Calcutta: Emta Mohammedan Sporting were held to a goalless draw by Warsi Southern Samity in a Calcutta Football League Premier Division match, at the Salt Lake Stadium, on Friday.

During the match, Wi Hyojun of Mohammedan Sporting and Mithun Naha of Southern Samity were hospitalised.

Wi Hyojun, who was down with fever for the last couple of days, collapsed in the dressing room at half-time.

During the second-half, Mithun Naha of Southern Samity suffered a head injury while trying to score. Naha was also admitted to a nearby hospital.

However, officials of the clubs informed that both the players were in stable condition.

There was not anything to choose between the sides as they played scrappy football. Although both the teams created chances, they could not convert them because of the profligacy of the strikers.

Southern Samity are now placed fourth in Group B with 11 points from seven matches, while Mohammedan Sporting lie in the seventh position with nine points from six matches.

Speaking after the match, Mohammedan Sporting coach Alok Mukherjee said he was disappointed with the result.

“We missed quite a few chances. If we continue missing chances, we cannot qualify for the next stage. We should have scored at least three goals Friday. ”

Southern Samity coach Shabbir Ali was, however, happy with the result.
