Deb chit fund barb at rival

Calcutta, Dec. 13: CPM leader Gautam Deb today alleged that the Mamata Banerjee government was “hand-in-glove” with some chit funds that were “illegally collecting money”.

“Some chit funds are thriving because they are hand-in-glove with the Mamata Banerjee government. They are illegally collecting money from poor people and misusing them, but the government is turning a blind eye,” the former housing minister alleged this afternoon.

Urban development minister Firhad Hakim denied the allegation, adding all chit funds were given licences in the Left Front regime.
