Guwahati, Dec. 12: River Rine Club rode a half-century by Ranjit Changmai and a five-wicket haul by Abir Chakraborty to hand a 50-run defeat to Pace Cricket Club in today’s pre-quarterfinal encounter of the Ratanlal Singhania and Mohini Devi Singhania Trophy Ankurjyoti Challenge cricket tournament at Judges Field here.
Electing to bat, River Rine posted 197 for eight in 35 overs and the Pace batsmen were bowled out for 147 in 33 overs.
Ranjit Changmai topscored for River Rine with 60 runs (4x7, 6x1) while Amit Boro and Vikash Singh contributed 41 (4x5, 6x1) and 25 (4x1) respectively.
Diganta Kumar Goswami of Pace picked up two wickets for 34 runs.
Later, River Rine’s Abir Chakraborty claimed five for 16 to rip apart the Pace batting line-up.
Pranab Das (35, 4x5, 6x1), Aditya Gautam (30, 4x4) and Rajinder Mahato (18, 4x2) were the notable scorers for Pace.
Gauhati Town Club will meet Navarang Club in tomorrow’s match.
