Bangla strike

Dhaka, Dec. 11 (AP): Explosions of homemade bombs were reported across Dhaka today as Opposition activists enforcing a daylong general strike clashed with police.

Police fired tear gas to disperse crowds of people who were smashing vehicles.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured in the violence described by witnesses in parts of Dhaka.

DSK lawsuit

New York (Reuters): Dominique Strauss-Kahn and a New York hotel maid, who accused the former IMF chief of sexual assault, on Monday settled her civil lawsuit against him for an undisclosed sum.

Islamabad (PTI): The family of a girl who was injured in the Taliban attack on Malala Yousafzai has decided to leave the Swat Valley and move to Punjab for security reasons.

Belfast riots
