Historian dead
Nilmoni Mukherjee, former professor of social history at Calcutta University, died in Calcutta on December 10. He was born in 1928. He wrote a book titled The Ryotwari System in Madras and a biography of his forefather Joykrishna Mukherjee of Uttarpara.
Body found
The body of a 38-year-old woman wrapped in a bed sheet was found in a room of a Lenin Sarani hotel on Tuesday evening. Police said Anwesha Bera had checked in at the hotel with her 10-year-old son and brother-in-law on Monday night.
