Manoj is sidelined

Calcutta/ New Delhi: A back injury has sidelined Manoj Tiwary for sometime.

While agencies reported that Manoj would be out of competitive cricket for atleast a-month-and-half, Bengal team manager Samir Dasgupta informed that the Bengal captain will be out of action for four weeks.

This would effectively mean that Manoj will not be a part of the Indian squad for the upcoming two T20 Internationals against England and will not be considered for selection for the Pakistan series. The BCCI, though, hasn’t yet named any replacement for Manoj.

Manoj has suffered a muscle tear and will be leaving for a comprehensive rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore on Tuesday. “The MRI report has come and I am leaving for Bangalore tomorrow. I will follow what physio Nitin Patel tells me to do once he checks the report. As of now it looks like six weeks,” Manoj said.

Speaking from Rajkot, Dasgupta said: “He is ruled out for four weeks. He will be leaving for Bangalore tomorrow.”
