The India-Pakistan one-dayer, on January 3, could well be Prabir Mukherjee’s last as curator of the venue. Speculations were rife after Board president Narayanswamy Srinivasan reportedly expressed his displeasure over the Eden pitch last Friday.
According to a senior CAB official, Mukherjee’s exit is imminent. “Although it’s not yet final, but Mukherjee’s comments against the BCCI over the last few days have created an uneasy situation for the CAB. There simply cannot be any doubt over his abilities (as a curator), but the CAB’s interests are the ones that come first.
“Besides, Mukherjee has health-related issues as well, which might lead to problems in future,” he said.
