Simran, Rishita & Uddinabh win

Guwahati, Dec. 9: Simran Ahmed of St Johnís School, Rishita Sinha of St Maryís English High School and Uddinabh Mahanta of Shrimanta Shankar Academy emerged champions in the under-13, under-9 and under-17 events of the PC Borooah selection chess championship that concluded here today.

Simran scored a perfect six from six rounds to win the title.

In the last round, she defeated Dhritiman Bez of Axam Jatiya Vidyalaya while in the penultimate round, she defeated Amlan Mahanta of Kendriya Vidyalaya, IOC.

Amlan scored five points to clinch the second spot. Uddipta Kakati of Delhi Public School and Nitin Malhotra of Sarala Birla Gyanjyoti also scored four points each, but Uddipta was declared third on the basis of tiebreak score.

In the under-9 category, Rishita scored full six points to claim the title. In the final round, she defeated Anubrat Borthakur of Pragjyotish Jatiya Vidyalaya.

Arka Kumar Gogoi of Mariaís Public School was declared second on the basis of his tiebreak score.

In the under-17 category, Uddinabh Mahanta of Shrimanta Shankar Academy became champions by scoring four points.
