| The grunge look of The Basement has given way to white interiors |
ACE OF BASE: The Basement now wears a brand new look. “It’s been a while since Basement opened in 2010 and we thought a change would do the place good,” said Gursimran Singh, owner of the lounge-bar on Sarat Bose Road. Just in time for the party season, the grunge look of the 45-seater den has given way to “posh and plush white interiors”, which were revealed on Wednesday night. “We picked white because it’s pristine and gives the party place a clean look. Plus, the colour makes it easy to play with the lighting,” he added.
Remember the green scooter jutting out of the wall? “That stays because everybody loves the scooter, although we’ve shifted it to the podium,” said Gursimran. What’s taken its place is a Harley-Davidson bike. And surprise, surprise, The Basement has tied up with the biking giant to try and display a new bike every weekend! Also new at the party haunt is a VIP section where an annual membership fee of Rs 15,000 gets you 30 per cent off on F&B along with complimentary snacks, dinner, cake and champagne for five on your birthday.
There’s more! The rooftop terrace Sky High has also been polished just as Calcutta welcomes the pre-winter nip in the air, complete with vertical gardening (grass on the walls instead of the floor).
