Jharkhand rail link in final lap

A holy journey to Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar or Basukinath Temple in Jharkhand’s Dumka is set to become easier for Bhagalpur residents with railways all set to link the pilgrim places.

Officials at Malda division of Eastern Railway recently approached the minister of state, railways, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury to inaugurate the newly constructed Mandar hill-Hansdiha railway line.

R.K. Gupta, divisional railway manager, Malda, who is scheduled to inspect the track on December 8, said Chowdhury had been requested to inaugurate the track on the 30-km stretch from Mandar hill in Banka, 273km southeast of Patna, to Hansdiha in Dumka.

Train services are available on the 50-km stretch between Bhagalpur and Mandar Hill while work is on progress to connect the track with Rampurhat (Bengal) via Dumka.
