Militants arrested

Kohima, Dec. 6: Police apprehended two NSCN (Khaplang) cadres with automatic weapons on Wednesday evening from PR Hill near the police headquarters here. They have been identified as self-styled lieutenant Pito Yepthomi, 26, son of Vihoi Yepthomi and resident of Thakiye village under Satoi subdivision, Zunheboto district, and self-styled private Khumtsa Aye, 23, son of Nizheto Aye, resident of Zunheboto town.

Carcass found

Jorhat: Forest department staff recovered a carcass of an adult male barking deer from Hoolunguri tea estate under Mariani forest range on Thursday. It had several injury marks on its body and is suspected to have been killed.

Jorhat: The Jorhat district tobacco control cell collected Rs 4,000 in fines on Thurday from offenders under Section 4 of COPTA for smoking in public places.
