Capital model dons director’s cap

Model, actor, producer-cum-director. At just 26, Ranchi lad Rahul Raj Singh is donning quite a number of filmy hats.

The boy from Namkum, who enjoyed a successful stint on the ramp and then on TV with Amber Dhara and Mata Ki Chowki, is now ready to try his hand in direction. Rahul will start shooting his debut film Body Double under the banner of his new production house Yuva Tiger Entertainment in January next year.

Based in Mumbai, Rahul confirmed that Vivek Oberoi would play the male lead while he had approached Mahi Gill of Dev. D fame and Huma Qureshi for the female roles.

“I am also looking forward to cast some artistes from Jharkhand as I want to take their talents to the national level,” Rahul, an alumnus of Bishop Westcott Boys’ School, said.

And no prize for guessing where he wants to shoot a portion of his movie. “I need support from the government to shoot my first film in the tribal hinterland. Hopefully chief minister Arjun Munda will help me fulfil my dream,”said the youth who hails from a business family.

Team Rahul will hold an audition to select actors from the state for which registration forms will be distributed from December 10 for two months.

“Our team will arrive from Mumbai to conduct the audition,” Rahul said, adding that he was planning to provide a wider platform to the talents from Jharkhand with the launch of a website, www.yuvatigerentertainment.com. Artistes can upload their bio-data along with their photographs on the website.
