Mumbai, Dec. 4: The Ajay Piramal-led Piramal Enterprises today said its subsidiary Decision Resources Group had acquired UK-based Abacus International for an undisclosed sum.
Decision Resources is a research and advisory firm focussing on healthcare insights and analysis. Abacus provides global market access solutions to healthcare companies.
According to Piramal Enterprises, the acquisition of Abacus by the Burlington, Massachusetts-based subsidiary will help in the global expansion of the firm’s market access capabilities.
“Abacus is an important acquisition in Decision Resources Group’s overall strategy to expand our market access capabilities and offer our clients the most innovative, high-value advisory solutions,” said Peter Hoenigsberg, CEO of Decision Resources Group. He added it would also boost its position in Europe as an important resource for healthcare firms worldwide.
Abacus will be part of the market access business unit of Decision Resources Group.
Piramal said the acquisition was value accreting for Decision Resources as Abacus offers integrated market access solutions across the entire product lifecycle.
“Abacus brings to the table a unique combination of technical excellence and robust, evidence-based analysis resulting in solutions that are well-designed to address the needs of our healthcare clients,” said Jim Lang, president of the market access business unit at Decision Resources Group.
He said the acquisition would now allow it to offer market access capabilities for the medical device and diagnostic industry.
