Rhino carcass
Jorhat, Dec. 3: A carcass of a male rhino was found near Hulalal Path camp under Kohora range of Kaziranga National Park today. Park officials said the death was a natural one and the horn has been secured by the staff. On the other hand, operations against poachers have been intensified in areas of Kukarakota camp in Burapahar range of the park after the detection of human footprints.
Duo abducted
Dibrugarh: Pradip More, a businessman, and his associate, Chandrapal Sharma, hailing from Naoholia near Duliajan in the district, have been abducted by a group of armed men from Lekang in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh late on Saturday night. Lohit deputy commissioner R.K. Sharma said efforts by police were on to trace the duo.
Protest
Jorhat: The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (Jorhat district unit) staged a sit-in in front of the Tocklai experimental station at Cinnamara here on Monday in support of their demands, which include nationalisation of the world’s oldest and largest tea research centre (at present under the Tea Research Association with it head office in Calcutta).
New AOC
Guwahati: Air Marshal Ravi Kant Sharma has been appointed the Air Officer Commanding-in-chief, Eastern Air Command, from Sunday. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Fighters’ stream of the IAF in June 1975.
