Advanced men move ahead

Imphal, Dec. 3: Football Club Ninou of Sadar Hills dominated the opening league round match of the 56th Sir Churachand Singh Memorial Football Tournament today but failed to score a single goal at Mapal Kangjeibung in Imphal today.

Advanced Voluntary Organisation won the match by a single goal.

Y. Arnold of Advanced converted a pass by Ksh. Indranath to score the goal in the 68th minute.

The tournament is organised by the All-Manipur Football Association.

Cricket: Jharkhand had a good start, humbling Manipur in the first league round match in the East Zone cricket tournament for the disabled, which began at the Thangmeiband Athletics Union ground here today.

Jharkhand won the match by 103 runs, winning the toss and electing to bat.

Manipur bowlers Ronald and Mustakin claimed two wickets each.

Babban of Jharkhand claimed three wickets.

Jharkhand won the second match by 69 runs against Bihar.

Only three teams participated in the tournament and it will conclude tomorrow.
