Star Sporting pip Sonapur

Guwahati, Dec 3: Star Sporting Club Academy inflicted a 52-run defeat on BB, Sonapur in the last group league match of the inter-cricket academy under-17 cricket tournament at Judges Field here today.

Start Sporting elected to bat and posted 147 for seven in the stipulated 20 overs and later bundled out BB, Sonapur for 95 in 17.5 overs.

Kutub Sheikh topscored for Star Sporting with a 44-run knock and Ajay Akela chipped in with 21 runs.

Zakaria Ahmed of the Sonapur team hauled four wickets for 28, bowling four overs.

Anwar Hussain chipped in with one for 27.

For the Sonapur outfit, Eklad Uddin scored 18 and Bitupan Das contributed 11 to be the only notable scorers for the side.

Kutub Sheikh notched up three wickets for six runs and Aftab Khan picked up two for 23.

Earlier in the day, Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School were awarded a walkover as opponents Naharkatia Sports Association team did not turn up for the match.

Gauhati Town Club Academy will play City Cricket Coaching Centre and Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre take on Delhi Public School in tomorrow’s league matches.

Muay Thai: Anchit Singha and Bedanta Rajkhowa from Assam have been selected to participate in the World Muay Thai championship in Phuket, Thailand in November next year. The duo were recently trained at a weeklong Muay Thai training camp at Rawai, Phuket. The camp was held under the aegis of Assam Amateur Muay Thai Association.
