Calcutta: Competition is expected to be tough in Monday’s eight-event card. The three trophy events — the Haskell David Memorial Cup, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy and the Ich Dien Cup — are well-represented and the winner spotting is not going to be easy in each event. However, in the ‘David’ Memorial Cup, trainer Rutherford Alford’s Head Hunter (Shailesh Shinde-up)gets the first call in view of the horse’s young age.

The ‘Jockey Club’ Trophy, on the other hand, may see a close contest between Richest Treasure, Abrooke, Ambaa and Santa Caterina. However, the last named filly (N.S. Parmar-up) enjoys a slight edge, thanks to her recent educating run in Pune. The 1,100m Ich Dien Cup, the third trophy in the card, also looks like a three-cornered contest between Ashwa Prabir, Torch Of Life and Red Passion, a speedy customer. However, Ashwa Prabir’s recent workouts points to the winning chances of the Daniel David-trained horse.
