Student suicide
Jorhat, Dec. 2: Police arrested Rupam Gogoi, 28, from Lahowal chapori Chuk under Bhogamukh police station on Sunday, for killing his wife Pori, 24, by setting her ablaze in the wee hours of Sunday.
Woman killed
Jorhat: A woman was killed and over 15 persons injured in an accident at Dadhara on NH 37 in Golaghat district in the wee hours of Sunday, when a Sadiya-bound ASTC bus coming from Guwahati lost control and hit a tree beside the road. The victim has been identified as Rupamoni Pegu.
AASU charge
Golaghat: AASU activists on Sunday handed over 17 people working in a paddy field in Ahomgaon to police, alleging that they were illegal migrants.
Arrested
Jorhat: Police arrested a youth from Imphal, Abdul Latif, from Rowriah here on Sunday, on the suspicion of being a bike thief and recovered a motorcycle and two fake number plates.
