U-16 team named

Guwahati, Nov. 30: The Assam Cricket Association today named the state under-16 team for the Vijay Merchant Trophy match against Tripura to be played at Nagaon from December 7 to 9. The team: Abhishek Thakuri (capt), Angshuman Saikia (vc), Rio Pramanik, Saahil Jain, Saurav Saha, Md Urooz Rizvi, Akshay Narain, Abhinab Choudhury, Bikash Terang, Elbert Borgohain, Hrishikesh Bora, Kalam Raja, Prasenjit Sarkar, Jubin Doley, Rubul Gogoi. Coach: Zaved Zaman, physio: Prasenjit Bhattacharyya, trainer: Souvik Das and manager: Romit Paul.

Condoled

The Assam Badminton Association and various other sports organisations today condoled the demise of Iswar Chandra Bhattacharjee, father of Olympian shuttler Dipankar Bhattacharjee, who passed away of old age ailments. The 73-year-old is survived by his wife and three sons.
