Bagan refuse to accept Dutta’s resignation
Mohun Bagan have refused to accept Debashis Dutta’s resignation and will try to convince him to change his decision. Dutta, who looked after the day-to-day running of the football team, put in his papers in the wake of Bagan’s 0-3 loss to Dempo. In a letter addressed to club general secretary Anjan Mitra, Dutta took responsibility for the side’s disastrous performance so far in the season. Mitra, however, replied that a single person cannot be guilty for the team’s debacle.
State billiards
Akram Khan overpowered Shyam Jagtiani 3-1 (151-110, 120-151, 152-36, 151-86) to register his second win in the four-man round robin league of the Senior State Billiards Meet. In another game, Shakil Ahmed came back from behind to beat Manish Jain 3-2 (87-152, 142-150, 151-148, 150-64, 150-52). In the junior billiards final, Sarfarazuddin emerged as the winner.

Local boy Viraj Madappa emerged on the top of the Category A (Under-18) leader board with yet another consistent performance after the third round of the Totoya IGU Eastern India Juniors Golf tournament, at the par-69 Tollygunge Golf Club, on Thursday.
