‘I putted very well’

Calcutta: Thirty-four-year-old Delhi golfer Shamim Khan wants something desperately.

In a fight for the Order of Merit top prize with 21-year-old Rashid Khan — the younger Khan is ahead by only Rs 11,384 — Shamim thinks his performance on Day II of the McLeod Russel Tour Championship will help him to win the No. 1 prize.

“The difference is very less. I have Rs. 44,02,847, while Rashid has Rs. 43,91,463. So if I have to win the award then I have to do something here. And this four-under — he is the sole leader with 6-under 138 — will give me the confidence for the next two days.”

Shamim, was very consistent on Thursday. “I missed just two fairways as I drove it really well. My putting was also much better as compared to Wednesday. I sank some long putts. One has to be aggressive on this course since it is quite long.”
